Chicago Bears Mock Draft Trade Proposals Focus on a Specific Position

Peter Schrager's latest mock draft, presented in a rare occurrence from the NFL on FOX reporter and "Good Morning Football" host, suggests the Chicago Bears are considering trading down.

Schrager's mock drafts, which are based on his connections within the league, carry significant weight and offer insights into team strategies. His current proposal includes the Bears passing on LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers, opting instead to trade the pick to the Indianapolis Colts, who would use it to select Nabers. The Bears, meanwhile, are not left empty-handed, as Schrager suggests they pick Alabama offensive lineman JC Latham at the No. 15 slot, bolstering their offensive line, and also secure a future second-round pick.

Latham, a standout offensive tackle, is highly regarded and could potentially be the second offensive tackle selected on draft night. His addition would complement last year's first-round tackle, Darnell Wright, creating a strong protective duo for franchise quarterback Caleb Williams.

However, the trade scenario posited by Schrager does raise questions, as moving down six spots might typically command more than a future second-round pick. Still, Latham is seen as a versatile player with the potential to shift from right to left tackle, enhancing the Bears' offensive capabilities.

In a similar vein, another mock draft by Brad Biggs suggests the Bears might trade down from No. 9, this time with the Arizona Cardinals. Biggs proposes that the Bears could select University of Washington offensive lineman Troy Fautanu with the No. 11 pick, citing Fautanu's athletic ability and potential as an immediate starter at left tackle. This strategy would provide the Bears with young, talented tackles on both sides of the line, though Fautanu's optimal position remains a topic of debate.

These draft strategies indicate a trend among analysts, including Mel Kiper, who also projects the Bears will focus on offensive linemen, demonstrating a collective belief in bolstering the team's offensive line to support their new quarterback. With the draft approaching, all eyes will be on the Bears' decisions, which could significantly impact their future roster composition.
