Quarterback Joe Burrow, the top pick in the 2020 draft, will have an opportunity to spend time with the latest first overall pick this summer.
Bears head coach Matt Eberflus announced at a Thursday press conference that his team will host Burrow and the Bengals for a joint practice on August 15, ahead of their preseason game scheduled for August 17.
While it remains uncertain if Burrow or Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams will play in that game, the joint practice will allow both teams to work against an opposing defense in a controlled environment. Prioritizing the health of both players, this approach is sensible for the teams.
The August 17 game marks the third preseason matchup for Chicago, who will play the Texans in the Hall of Fame Game and visit the Bills. The Bengals will open their preseason against the Buccaneers.
