The Los Angeles Rams' passing offense has been among the best in the NFL under coach Sean McVay, but the team could use an elite running back to elevate the unit further. The franchise's rushing offense ranked 27th in the league last season, averaging just 97.7 yards per game, and has not had a 1,000-yard rusher since Todd Gurley in 2018. To contend for the championship in 2022, McVay and GM Les Snead must improve the rushing game.
A proposed trade that would bring five-time Pro Bowler Alvin Kamara from the New Orleans Saints has been suggested by Kenneth Teape of NFL Analysis Network. The Saints are projected to be more than $60 million over the salary cap and could be facing a rebuilding year, making Kamara a trade option. The trade would require the Rams to offer their 2023 third-round pick and a 2024 conditional second-round pick, which could turn into a first-round pick if specific incentives are met during the 2023 season.
The Saints are coming off a 7-10 season, and GM Mickey Loomis must decide whether to rebuild or remain competitive. Trading Kamara would signal a rebuilding effort, but if the financial details can be worked out, he would bring much-needed depth to the Rams' offense that has heavily relied on the Matthew Stafford-Cooper Kupp combination.
Kamara has been a consistent and dynamic playmaker in the NFL since his debut in 2017, recording over 1,000 yards of offense in each of his first six seasons.
