Packers GM Brian Gutekunst discusses Javon Bullard.
It will become easier to predict future records in a few weeks once the full schedules are released for each team. However, for the moment, power rankings provide a glimpse into what might be expected.
For the Chicago Bears, a team historically underwhelmed on such occasions, the acquisitions of Caleb Williams, Rome Odunze, Montez Sweat, and Keenan Allen are viewed by many as a significant triumph. Nonetheless, not everyone shares this optimism.
In the power rankings compiled by Conor Orr of Sports Illustrated, the Bears' roster stands at only 19th, trailing behind both the Lions and the Packers.
Despite the ranking, Orr remains upbeat about the team.
What does Jaylon Johnson think the Bears still need?
"Chicago approached this draft fully loaded," Orr commented. "The duo of QB Caleb Williams and WR Rome Odunze was a pairing I hadn't anticipated in my mock draft last week."
Others, however, believe the Bears drafted even more impressively.
Eric Edholm of NFL.com ranks the Bears slightly higher at 16th, influenced by the same factors.
"The Bears have risen to the NFL's upper echelon," stated Edholm. "This isn't a mere act of goodwill. The anticipation of Caleb Williams' arrival had been building, but snagging WR Rome Odunze at ninth overall was genuinely thrilling."
Pete Prisco of CBS Sports places the Bears similarly at 17th, but he sees potential for them in the NFC North.
"With Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze drafted first and ninth respectively, they've laid the foundation for an exciting offense," Prisco noted. "If Williams lives up to expectations, they could contend for the division title."
David Helman of Fox Sports ranks them higher than most at 15th, but notes the necessity of such a ranking as he places two of their division rivals within the top six.
"While I don't foresee Caleb Williams and the revamped Bears clinching the division, I do anticipate a dynamic and competitive team," Helman remarked. "That would be an impressive first step for Chicago."
The Athletic's Josh Kendall offers the most favorable view, placing the Bears' roster 13th.
"They only made five draft picks, but that hasn't dampened the high hopes in Chicago," Kendall observed. "With just one division title in the past 13 years, the Bears are now seen as genuine contenders against the Lions and Packers this year."
