Matt Eberflus gives concerning update on starting Center battle
Matt Eberflus has a bit of a conundrum on his hands as it pertains to none other than the Center position.
With a rookie QB, pass protection is incredibly important. However, center has been an inconsistent position for the Bears. They brought in Coleman Shelton and Ryan Bates, although they haven't been able to compete as planned. With Nate Davis out, Bates has had to sub in at guard, while Shelton takes all of the reps.
Additionally, Eberflus revealed a bit of an issue with his centers. They snap the ball in two completely different ways. This can cause confusion with Williams and the other quarterbacks on the roster. While the way they snap the ball isn't the issue, it's the way in which the quarterback has to adapt between series that has been a problem. Regardless, Eberflus is confident the issue will be resolved.
