Taylor is making headlines around social media for his Australian accent and mind blowing highlights. He may even be the most famous punter in the league.
Now, let's get to know a bit more of the new Bear:
Taylor was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. He attended a private school for his high school education, and was NOT a punter. However, after high school, he did play Australian football while still at home. During that time, he was recruited to Iowa.
Taylor then joined the Hawkeyes at the University of Iowa in 2020, and has been a key member of their special teams since.
Taylor was named as a 2-time EddlemanFields Punter of the Year, named as an Unanimous All-American, and was awarded with the Ray Guy Award. He also holds 2 NCAA FBS records for most punting yards in a season and highest career average punting yards.
Following the 2023 season, Taylor decided to enter the NFL draft and was eager to be selected by any team that wanted him, but had hopes of being selected by the Bears.
Taylor told reporters this week that his girlfriend is actually from Chicago, so that makes this pick even more special. He even joked around about how perfect the pick would be before he got the call from GM Ryan Poles and the rest of the Bears' organization.
Taylor was then drafted by the Bears as their 4th-round pick and was the first specialist selected in this years draft.
Many analysts and reporters have stated how good this pick was for the Bears and though punters usually don't get a ton of praise, Taylor has indeed been shown a bunch of love:
Happy to have you in Chicago, Taylor!
