Flex scheduling for Thursday Night Football has been a hot topic of conversation recently. It allows for more flexibility in the scheduling of games and gives Amazon the ability, or better yet, the power, to move a Sunday afternoon game to the Thursday night slot during Weeks 14-17.

The NFL is anticipating that this will create more exciting matchups for viewers to enjoy and keep fans on their toes as they tune in to watch their favorite teams compete and push for a playoff spot.

It's clear why the league and owners would be in favor of flex scheduling for Thursday Night Football. It has the potential to increase revenue and boost viewership. However, there's a downside to this approach that affects both the players and the fans who plan to attend these games. Changing the schedule with only 15 days notice can be a burden, particularly when it comes to travel arrangements.

The recent NFL owners meeting saw a 22-8 vote in favor of flex scheduling for Thursday Night Football, according to NBC Sports' Peter King. However, 24 votes are required for the proposal to pass, so it's not a done deal just yet.

Eight teams voted against it, with two others abstaining, being the Panthers and the Broncos.

Among the teams that voted "no" were the Giants, Jets, Saints, Packers, and the Bears were also opposed to the move.

The league will revisit the issue at its next meeting in May, so it remains to be seen if the proposal will ultimately go through. Taking into consideration that the owners in favor simply have to sway two more owners in order for this to pass.

We shall see.
