While Jenkins did not say what led to him sitting out or if it was related to last year's back issues, he did say that the time off was for «the betterment of my health.»
However, it looks like the issue is now resolved as Jenkins played versus the Chiefs in the preseason game and he performed very nicely. He had a few great plays, including a few "pancake" blocks.
With that being said, it looks like the Bears might be trying to move him around and find a way to have him on the first team!

I actually like this potential move. Jenkins clearly has the strength to play on the inside and when you look at the game tape from the game against the Chiefs, you can see that RG is looking like a weak spot on the offensive line right now...
Jenkins still has such a high ceiling and I think he could become a multi-year starter in this league.
