"When Jerrell Freeman was on the field for the Chicago Bears, he was a very productive player. It was staying on the field that was Freeman's biggest problem. Freeman missed 19 games over his two seasons with the Bears due to injury and a pair of suspensions for performing enhancing drug use, with the second one coming last season while he was on injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Bears have released the 31-year-old inside linebacker. They will suffer a $500,000 cap penalty for terminating the final year of his deal.

This leaves just Danny Trevathan, Nick Kwiatkoski and Jonathan Anderson as the only inside linebackers currently under contract for next season. Christian Jones and John Timu (restricted) are both free agents that the Bears are looking to re-sign. "
