"The Chicago Bears were trying to land Teddy Bridgewater yesterday through free agency however the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stepped in and everything is on hold. Things for the Bears and just about every other team looking for quarterback just got a bit more complicated. Of course to start, Tom Brady announced that he won't be returning to New England which changes the quarterback landscape. Then a couple of hours later to make things even more complicated, the Carolina Panthers have granted quarterback Cam Newton permission to seek a trade. That puts any chance of the Bears landing Bridgewater, Nick Foles or anybody else on hold as team's will wait to see where Brady and Newton go.
Big news: Based on the previous discussions between the #Panthers organization and Cam Newton's agents, it has been agreed upon to allow Cam and his agency team to seek a trade. Other details to follow. — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 17, 2020
