Hilliard was originally a wide receiver in the NFL before becoming a coach. Back in 1997, Hilliard was selected by the Giants as their first-round pick, and he spent the next 8 seasons there until signing with the Buccaneers in 2005.
Though Hilliard finished his career with the Buccaneers, he ended up signing with the Giants on a one-day contract to officially retire as a Giant.
After his playing career came to an end, Hilliard started coaching in 2009, and has since bounced around from the NFL and college.
His latest coaching job was with the Auburn in 2022, but has since been unemployed.
If the Bears do hire Hilliard, then he will be reunited with newcomer OC Shane Waldron, as the two were both members of the coaching staff on the Commanders in 2016.
