Though many mock drafts being published lately have the Bears selecting Caleb Williams at 1 and then either an edge rusher or receiver at 9, this new mock has the Bears selecting a cornerback with their extra first-round pick:

USA TODAY

In this mock draft from USA Today's Nate Davis, he predicts the Bears selecting Clemson star CB Nate Wiggins with the 9th overall pick:

"Chicago could go in any number of directions with its second pick depending on how the board falls, including perhaps a receiver or lineman who could directly benefit Caleb Williams. However the Bears could also use help at corner perhaps especially so if negotiations with unsigned Jaylon Johnson go sideways"
- Davis wrote

Wiggins has just completed his junior year in Clemson, and after being named as a First-team All-ACC, he declared for the upcoming 2024 draft.

Wiggins is predicted to be the best defensive back in this year's draft, and though the Bears already have great CBs on the team, they may be losing some.

With Jaylon Johnson still dealing with contract extension talks, there is a chance that the Bears will not extend him and will let him walk, meaning the team will be in need of his replacement.
