The Bears should NOT pursue this free agent
After the offensive line, the receiving core is probably the weakest area on the Bears roster currently. New Bears GM Ryan Poles will most likely bring in at least 3 or 4 free-agent receivers. One guy that was associated with the Bears a couple of times by experts and reporters already is JuJu Smith-Schuster.
However, I do not think it would be a great idea to sign him in Chicago. First of all, the contract that would be required in order to sign him could be pretty lucrative. I think there are many better options available like perhaps D.J Chark, Calvin Ridley or Christian Kirk for example.
Juju has not been as productive on the field during the past few seasons. In 2020 he played all 16 games and only had 831 yards. He followed that up with the worst season of his career in 2021. He missed 12 games due to injuries. In the 5 games he played, he totalled 129 yards and zero touchdowns.
In addition, Smith-Schuster had been a distraction off the field for the past couple of years. Whether is it the TikTok dances after losses or the complaining in the media, he has not shown the best attitude. You can live with the distractions when the player is an all-pro who makes game-winning plays on the football field. But, you cannot employ a player that is literally a disturbance and does not put up any kind of stats on gameday.
