The Curse of the Chicago Honey Bears
The last time the Bears won the Super Bowl was in 1985, this is also the last year that we had the Honey Bears cheering us on from the sidelines. Coincidence? Absolutely not.
Formed by George Halas in 1976, the Honey Bears were brought in to breathe some life into the franchise as in the previous 8 years they had gone 35-76-1. Since the Dallas cheerleaders were so popular the Honey Bears were a welcome addition.
With the Honey Bears by our side, we finished .500 for the first time in 8 years, the next year going to the playoffs going 82-67 between 76-85. They reached the postseason four times and won the Super Bowl. Since we lost the Honey Bears after the '85 season we have a losing record, nine playoff appearances, and one Super Bowl appearance that we still don't talk about.
Also in 2010, some unofficial members of the Honey Bears were handing out petitions at training camp to bring the Honey Bears back and we went to the NFC Championship that year. All I'm saying is the facts are there, every team has its curses and superstitions. I believe that the Honey Bears are the key to our next Super Bowl. Not Fields, Getsy, Poles, etc no, no.
I believe our best course of action is to round up any surviving members of the 85 Honey Bears and let's give it one more go!
