According to Vic Tafur of The Athletic, the Las Vegas Raiders are considering a trade for Fields after seeing other potential suitors commit to different options in recent days. The Pittsburgh Steelers secured Russell Wilson, and the Atlanta Falcons agreed to sign Kirk Cousins to a substantial contract.
Tafur noted, "As the market narrows for Justin Fields, Raiders are exploring a possible reunion with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy."
Before the Raiders reached a deal with veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew, Tafur discussed the Raiders' interest in Fields. Minshew signed a two-year, $25 million deal with the Raiders, potentially competing with rookie Aidan O'Connell for the starting job in 2024.
If Minshew's signing takes the Raiders out of the equation, other teams may consider Fields. One possibility is the Denver Broncos, who are releasing Wilson and currently have Jarrett Stidham as their top option. While they may prefer drafting a rookie, Fields could provide competition for Stidham or a rookie quarterback.
The Bears may struggle to find a motivated trade partner for Fields. Insider Adam Schefter previously suggested they could fetch a second-round pick or even a first-rounder. However, with Atlanta and Pittsburgh out of contention, the Bears' options are limited.
If the Broncos aren't interested, the Seattle Seahawks and New York Giants are potential suitors, though neither has expressed clear interest in acquiring a challenger for their veteran quarterbacks. Otherwise, the Bears may have to settle for a modest return similar to what the New England Patriots received for Mac Jones, the 15th pick in 2021, trading him to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a 2024 sixth-round pick. Despite Fields' talent, the market for him seems subdued.
