Antonio Brown Sheds Light on Relationship Breakdown with Tom Brady in Tampa Bay Drama

Antonio Brown has been quite vocal in his criticisms of Tom Brady on social media, and now we might have a clearer understanding of the reasons behind their strained relationship.

It was Brady who brought Brown on board with both the New England Patriots (albeit for just one game) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where they ultimately won a Super Bowl together � Brown's first and Brady's seventh.

However, during negotiations for a new contract for the 2021 season and potentially beyond, things took a turn for the worse. Following a brief, rocky stint with the then-Oakland Raiders and an even shorter tenure with the Patriots, it appeared that Brown's NFL career was all but over. But when all hope seemed lost, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady stepped in to help his talented teammate.

After serving an eight-game suspension in 2020, Brown signed with the Buccaneers, reuniting with Brady. The star quarterback even let Brown stay at his Florida home temporarily while he adjusted to his new surroundings. At the time, Brown praised Brady for single-handedly reviving his life and career.

"Tom Brady is one of my closest friends ever man and my dog. Tom is the guy that came to get me. He the guy provided me over this Jeff's overhaul, he made a plan for me getting back into lead made a plan for me to get back to being a champion, got my life on track to be in a position I'm in."

After nearly two months of drama, Brown ultimately signed a one-year deal with the team in late April 2021. It's likely that he was holding out for more money, but the final contract was only worth $3.1 million. The Buccaneers had a busy offseason in 2021, as they also had to negotiate new contracts for players like Shaquil Barrett, Rob Gronkowski, and Ndamukong Suh.

"I give everyone their props from a team standpoint, as far as the team, but you know, we all got our own agendas in the midst of the team," Brown said. "So when you're an older player, you getting deals like that ... My agent's telling me already before the season that this guy -- who [Brady] hooked me up with -- is calling him, cussing him out about the contract."

It's important to note that we can't be sure if this actually happened. Since walking off the field in his final NFL game, Brown has consistently spoken negatively about Brady.
