Monday morning the Chicago Bears announced the hiring of a new head coach. That man is of course now former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. Nagy is the next up in a long list of names which includes Jon Gruden, John Harbaugh, Ron Rivera and Doug Pederson who have coached under Andy Reid to move on to their own coaching gigs.Nagy is 39 years old and has spent the last 10 seasons under Andy Reid with both the Chiefs and Eagles. This was his first season as offensive coordinator after spending the previous three years as the team's quarterback coach. Under Nagy in 2017 the Chiefs ranked 5th in total offense (375.4 yards a game), 6th in points per game (25.9), 7th in passing yards (256.5), 9th in rushing (118.9) and led the NFL with the fewest turnovers.Another interesting stat is that the Chiefs tied for fifth with 69 plays from scrimmage of 20 or more yards. With a stat like that, can we introduce Nagy to Tarik Cohen as soon as possible. While Nagy has helped Alex Smith become the third winningest QB in the NFL over the last four years, it's interesting to note that Nagy has chosen to work with Mitch Trubisky moving forward over Chiefs QB rookie Patrick Mahomes.
