"Lost in the shuffle of the firing of head coach John and the ongoing search for his replacement was an update on three important Chicago Bears players who could not finish the season due to injury.
During the course of the day on Monday we were updated on the statuses of outside linebacker Leonard Floyd, wide receiver Cameron Meredith and offensive lineman Kyle Long.
Pace said that the team «by no means» is worried about Floyd's recovery. The 2016 first-round pick had surgery in November after spraining both the MCL and PCL in his right knee. He was spotted walking around Halas Hall on Monday wearing a brace on the injured knee.
Meredith missed the entire 2017 season with a torn ACL after leading the team in catches and receiving yards in 2016. Meredith told reporters that is recovery is right on schedule and he is looking forward to working with quarterback Mitch Trubisky during the offseason.
Long has already had neck surgery and Pace said he still may have surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left surgery as well as a hand injury.
«He's dealing with a variety of injuries now,» Pace said, per Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune. «He's kind of knocking those out one by one. I think he addressed that, but we're confident in the direction he's headed.»
All three of these players being healthy will be a big boost for the Bears in 2018. "
