Recent reports added further weight to Peterson's financial woes, suggesting he was selling off numerous personal items, including his MVP trophy, Rookie of the Year trophy, Offensive Player of the Year trophy, and more. However, Peterson swiftly took to social media to refute these claims, asserting that some of his prized possessions were included in an estate sale without his consent.
In a video released Wednesday evening, Peterson stated, "An estate sale company, without my authorization, included some of my trophies in the sale despite my clear instructions to leave personal items untouched. I did not authorize the sale of any of my trophies and I will be taking legal action. Trusting this company without supervision was my mistake."
He further emphasized his financial stability and reiterated his commitment to retaining his hard-earned accolades.
Peterson's illustrious career included winning the Rookie of the Year award in 2007 with the Minnesota Vikings, where he rushed for 1,341 yards and 12 touchdowns. Over 15 seasons with seven different teams, including the Vikings and Washington Commanders, Peterson amassed 14,918 rushing yards, 305 receptions for 2,474 yards, and scored 126 touchdowns. He was selected to seven Pro Bowls.
Despite hints at retirement, Peterson has not officially hung up his cleats, expressing openness to potential opportunities in the NFL. However, his playing time dwindled during his last stint with the Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks in 2021, following stints with teams like the Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints, and Detroit Lions after his tenure with the Vikings.
