Despite a tough Week 1 defeat against the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears' offensive coordinator Luke Getsy remains optimistic about Justin Fields' performance. The Bears faced a crushing 38-20 loss, and Fields' 2023 debut wasn't particularly impressive, with 24 completions out of 37 passes, tallying 216 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Notably, he was under significant pressure, enduring four sacks and consistent pressure during more than half of his dropbacks, as noted by Pro Football Focus.

However, Getsy praised Fields' composure amidst the intense pressure. He commented, via Dan Wiederer of The Chicago Tribune, "Fields managed the situation as well as he's ever done since joining, showing remarkable composure. There's room for improvement, especially in bolstering our front-line defense and enhancing team chemistry, but it'll come with more playtime."

The Packers' formidable play overshadowed the Bears throughout the game. Still, Fields showcased his mobility, rushing nine times and covering 59 yards. However, the support from his receiving unit was lackluster. Notably, Chase Claypool, targeted twice, failed to make a single catch, raising questions about his availability for the upcoming match against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

As Fields steps into his third NFL season, the Bears remain hopeful of his potential and growth.
