Panthers Complete Roster with Veteran Wideout Javon Wims

On Wednesday night, the Panthers wasted no time in filling their roster vacancy and reaching the 90-player limit by signing veteran wide receiver Javon Wims. The Georgia product brings his experience to Carolina after spending three years with the Bears, having been selected in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Wims has also had stints with the Raiders, Browns, and Cardinals during his career.

Standing at an imposing 6-foot-2 and weighing 221 pounds, Wims adds size and strength to the Panthers' receiving corps. However, to make room for Wims on the roster, the Panthers had to make a tough decision and waived wide receiver Marquez Stevenson earlier in the day. Roster adjustments like these are common during training camp as teams strive to assemble the most competitive lineup for the upcoming season.

Wims was a Bears seventh-round pick in 2018 and he played 33 games over three seasons in Chicago. He spent time with the Raiders and Browns before joining the Cardinals and appearing in one game last season.

Wims did not catch a pass in that appearance, but Throughout his career, he has tallied 28 catches for 266 yards and two touchdowns, demonstrating his ability to make crucial plays on the field.
