Back on March 20th, new general manager Ryan Poles signed unrestricted free agent Byron Pringle, a receiver that was beginning to make a name for himself in Kansas City. Pringle signed a one-year deal worth $4 million which could become $6 million with added incentives.

On April 24th, just over a month after being signed, Pringle has been arrested for reckless driving on a suspended license.

The new Bears receiver was reportedly doing donuts on a public road in a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat with a child in the car, all on a suspended driver's license. Furthermore, he allegedly became confrontational during the stop with the police officer. The report stated that another adult male was in the car, although that other male has yet to be identified.

Pringle was an attractive signing. In his 3 year career thus far, he has racked up 898 yards on 67 receptions with 7 touchdowns, 5 of which came in the recent 2021 season. He was a part of the Super Bowl 54 winning Chiefs roster in February 2020.

Now, Ryan Poles has a very important decision to make. All eyes turn to Poles who had a previous relationship with Pringle when the two were in Kansas City. Under Nagy and Pace, it wasn't super uncommon for off-the-field issues to break the news, so it will be important to see what Poles does here as one of the first players he brought in could be dealing with some serious legal trouble in the coming days.

It is important to note that this is not Byron Pringle's first criminal trouble. In 2019, he was arrested and faced 7 felony charges in accusations of car burglaries, armed robbery and firing a BB gun at pedestrians. The looming Ryan Poles decision could change the current Bears draft plan if Pringle ends up getting released. If that is the case, the Bears will be in even more of the wide receiver market than they are now.
