"With a couple of names off the board, the Chicago Bears continue to look for QB help. The Bears and general manager Ryan Pace lost out on one of their big targets in Teddy Bridgewater but according to one report are looking at the guy Bridgewater is pushing out of town. According to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, the Bears are currently in talk with the Carolina Panthers regarding Cam Newton. With Newton unable to take a physical with doctors because of the coronavirus prevention measures, it's likely that the Panthers end up cutting Newton instead of trading him. However Jones adds that the Bears are interested in making a trade with the Panthers so they don't have to compete with other teams on the free agent market. Newton when healthy remains a force to be reckoned with however has run into serious health issues over the last couple of years but it's not hard to argue he's an upgrade over Mitch Trubisky. Do you want to see Pace go "all in" on Newton?
The Panthers have been in recent contact with the Bears regarding Cam Newton, per source. The expectation is Newton will be released in the coming days, but CHI may not want to compete in the market for him — Jonathan Jones (@jjones9) March 18, 2020
