Belichick had two interviews with Arthur Blank, owner of the Atlanta Falcons. However, the Falcons recently hired their former interim head coach, Raheem Morris, to lead their team, choosing a different direction.
Another surprising development is that Belichick has reportedly discouraged other coaches from considering the New York Giants as a desirable landing spot at this time. This is unexpected given his 12-year tenure with the Giants from 1979 to 1990, during which he served as a special teams and linebackers coach, as well as a defensive coordinator, and won two Super Bowls. Despite the success during his previous stint, Belichick now appears to have reservations about the Giants' current organizational structure, suggesting that it is not as well-run as it was in the past.
With most head coaching positions filled over the last two weeks, there are currently only two vacant positions in Seattle and Washington. It appears that arguably the greatest coach in NFL history may have to wait until next season to secure his next head coaching opportunity.
