The contract of this Bears' pro-bowler has been voided
This morning, the contract of Bears' receiver and return-man specialist Jakeem Grant has been officially voided. This is according to NFL contracts and salary cap expert, Joel Corry.
This means that, as of this moment, Grant is now a free agent.
During the middle of last season, the Bears made a trade to acquire punt return specialist Jakeem Grant. They gave up a 6th round pick to get his services. They thought they would get in return a reliable punt and kickoff returner. Chicago ended up getting much more than that. Grant made a huge impact on the field immediately. His amazing play earned him a spot in the 2022 Pro Bowl.
Grant led the NFL in average punt return yards, had an amazing punt return touchdown against the Green Bay Packers and he also added two other touchdowns on offense. He was truly a do-it-all guy for the Bears.
At the Pro-Bowl, the Texas native said that's if the chips fall the right way, he thinks he will be a Bear next season. He also mentioned that he feels like he can still make a great impact on offense, not just on special teams.
