The Packers might be on the verge of making a blockbuster trade

According to a report from Aaron Nagler, the Packers and Raiders have discussed a trade that would involve Darren Waller.

This confirms the rumours in a piece by the Athletic that said the Packers initially wanted «an undisclosed player» from the Raiders along with a first-round selection in exchange for Davante Adams.

While I would hate for the Packers to obtain Waller, I have to admit that he would be a great fit in that offense. However, with the Raiders clearly in a win-now mode after just acquiring Devante Adams, I really don't see them letting go of one of the best players in exchange for draft picks.

Waller is widely regarded as one of the best tight ends in football. He was signed as a free agent in 2018.

Waller transformed himself for the 2019 season. Named the starting tight end in the off-season, he responded with a dominant season. He hauled in 90 receptions for 1,145 yards. Safe to say Waller had officially put the league on notice. The Raiders were also impressed enough to give him a big three-year contract extension.

He then followed that huge season with an even bigger one. In 2020, he had 107 catches, 1,196 yards, and nine touchdowns he earned himself a Pro Bowl nod.

The 29-year-old Georgia native is a truly great player. This is hard for me to believe that the Raiders would actually trade him. However, with this crazy off-season, you never know...
