Earlier today on Good Morning Football, co-host Will Selva spoke on how Mac Jones is leading this offseason, and that this is a "make or break" season.
Mac Jones stated:
So, how exactly will he earn the respect? Last season, Jones led the Patriots to a disappointing 8-9 record. Pats fans are not used to having losing seasons, so most of the blame went to the QB. In 14 games, Jones threw for only 14 touchdowns along with 11 interceptions. Lots of drama also occurred when Jones was benched during a game in week 7, and many discussions took place after about whether Jones or his backup QB, Zappe, should start.
But, we cannot blame Jones for all of the issues. The Pats just lost their star offensive coordinator & quarterbacks coach, Josh McDaniels, causing a lot of change for the team. Injuries and coaching changes can poorly affect a team, so this not all about Jones' skill level.
Moving forward, Jones looks confident. He will earn the respect from his team by showcasing his leadership and dedication. He seems like a different player now, as he is more confident and down to earth.
