According to Alec White of the team's official website, the Buffalo Bills have inked a one-year contract with veteran offensive lineman Will Clapp. The 28-year-old recently completed two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, making appearances in 14 games during the 2023 season.
Drafted in the seventh round (245th overall) by the New Orleans Saints in 2018, Clapp spent his initial four NFL seasons in a rotational capacity before joining the Chargers in 2022.
During his tenure with the Saints, Clapp participated in 34 games and made a total of seven starts. Notably, his highest snap count in a single season with New Orleans was 309 in the 2019 season.
Upon transitioning to the Chargers in 2022, Clapp assumed an increased role, featuring in all 17 games and starting in three. His prominence further escalated when he filled in for Pro Bowl center Corey Linsley, who was sidelined due to a heart condition, making 11 starts in Linsley's absence.
The Buffalo Bills have experienced an eventful offseason, marked by challenging salary cap constraints leading to the departure of several notable players and fan favorites. Notable departures include Pro Bowl Safety Jordan Poyer, cornerback Tre'Davious White, and reliable center Mitch Morse.
Despite the losses, the Bills have prioritized retaining key talents such as A.J. Epenesa and DaQuan Jones, while also welcoming back familiar faces like Mitch Trubisky on a two-year deal.
With Clapp joining the team, he is expected to compete for a starting role within the revamped Buffalo Bills offensive line.
