Bears defensive tackle debuts new physique and embraces new role

Chicago Bears defensive tackle Gervon Dexter is going into his second full season with the team, and there are some big expectations being thrust upon him.
In a report from Yahoo! Sports, it was noted that head coach Matt Eberflus has made Dexter a starting three-technique tackle. Although this may seem daunting, Dexter has prepared himself. He has a brand-new physique and he feels like this has already made a huge difference in practice.
«I just tried to get in marathon shape,» Dexter said. «I can move around easier, I can go longer being leaner helps me get off the ball faster. Being leaner helps me penetrate faster.»
Dexter's teammates have also taken notice, which is certainly a positive. Having said that, fans are going to be hoping for the best from Dexter. The Bears' defense already has a ton of potential, and Dexter is looking to be a major piece to that puzzle.
