Bears President Kevin Warren States Plan to Construct Stadium
The ongoing saga of the Chicago Bears and their stadium plans persists, marked by a lack of significant developments. Their standoff with Arlington Heights over the 326-acre property purchased more than a year ago remains unresolved. Recent reports suggest a shift in focus towards a new stadium near Soldier Field. Confirming these reports during the 2024 NFL owners meetings in Orlando, FL, team president Kevin Warren expressed intentions to construct a new stadium on the lakefront.
Addressing reporters, including CHGO's Adam Hoge, Warren left no room for ambiguity. "The plan would be to put a shovel in the ground on the lakefront," he stated.
Since assuming the role of team president and CEO, Warren has consistently expressed admiration for Chicago. In an interview with Peter King last August, he effusively praised Chicago and its lakefront. "God really kissed downtown Chicago with that lakefront," Warren remarked via NBC Sports Chicago. "I don't think there's any place in the country that has that beauty of a city right upon a beautiful lake in Lake Michigan."
The proposal for a new stadium just south of Soldier Field arises from the challenges faced with the Arlington Park property. Disputes over proposed tax assessments have hindered progress, despite recent efforts by the village to find a compromise. Nonetheless, the Bears are signaling their clear preference for the lakefront location.
