This undrafted Bears rookie has the media completely stunned
Coming into training camp, there are plenty of rookies who are trying to get themselves some playing time, including undrafted free agent Ian Wheeler.
Overall, Wheeler has been making himself known to the coaches and the rest of the team. Based on early plays so far, Wheeler has proven to be one of the best players out there. His energy and his ability to adapt has the team excited. Not to mention, he knows how to get separation and run downfield in an instant.
Unfortunately for Wheeler, getting any playing time this season could be impossible. D'Andre Swift, Roschon Johnson, and even Travis Homer are higher up the depth chart. Furthermore, it would appear as though Velus Jones will be the likely kickreturn starter.
That said, if Wheeler continues to play well, he could end up on the practice roster. Moreover, if there are injuries, he would find himself in a next-man-up situation. Needless to say, there are worse predicaments to be in.
