We are 98 days from kickoff at Soldier Field versus the San Fransisco 49ers. In anticipation of the 2022 seasons let's journey back to the history of #98.

Most Recent: Bilal Nichols-

Nichols was the most recent Bear to wear the jersey from his rookie year in 2018 and throughout last season. Nichols was not resigned by the Bears, and despite this, he has the potential to have a promising career. Nichols always seemed to be getting his numbered called whether it was making a play on the ball carrier at the line of scrimmage or getting after the quarterback. In his 4 seasons with Chicago Nichols has 11 sacks, 146 tackles, and 18 TFLs.

2010s- Corey Wootton

Corey Wootton was selected in the 4th-round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. Wootton was drafted to fill a need in Lovie Smith's defense. This defense had many talented players such as Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs, Julius Peppers, Charles Tillman and Tim Jennings. The interior D-Line was in need of an upgrade, Wootton never really transition into the league to be an impact player. Wootton played 5 seasons in the league (4 in Chicago) and only recorded 12 career sacks. Wootton's most known would be in a primetime game against divisional foe, the Minnesota Vikings. Wootton sacked QB Brett Favre on the frozen Minnesota field, Favre sustained a head injury and would never play another snap in the NFL.
