With a little over two months remaining until the 2024 NFL draft, the Chicago Bears' strategy for the No. 1 overall pick seems to be crystallizing.

Having traded last year's top pick to the Carolina Panthers in a blockbuster deal that netted them wide receiver DJ Moore and two first-round selections, the Bears find themselves in a similar predicament this year.

The dilemma: retain dual-threat quarterback Justin Fields or orchestrate another blockbuster trade with the top pick? Or, alternatively, keep the pick and draft a franchise quarterback from a talented pool that includes USC's Caleb Williams, the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner?

According to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Bears would demand a "historic haul" of draft picks and compensation to part ways with the first pick. Rapoport's sources also suggest that the return would need to be "crazy."

In essence, it appears highly probable that the Bears will select their quarterback of the future come April, whether it's Williams or North Carolina's Drake Maye, who are widely regarded as the top two QBs in the 2024 draft class.

This decision likely spells the end for Fields in Chicago, subjecting him to trade discussions during the offseason.

One thing is certain: the Bears' offseason promises to be filled with excitement and anticipation as they navigate these crucial decisions.
