Alabama WR Jermaine Burton Hit Female Fan In Face While Walking Off Field After Loss To Tennessee
Alabama is currently looking into allegations surrounding wide receiver Jermaine Burton, after he was caught on camera appearing to hit two Tennessee fans on the field while heading back to the visitors' locker room.
Burton, who transferred from Georgia during the offseason, can be seen on camera sticking his arm out, which appears to make contact with a female fan rushing the field following the Tennessee win.
Tennessee was fined $100,000 by the SEC for its second offense under the league's field access policy. A third offense would result in a $250,000 fine.
"This is why we have these rules," an SEC official told ESPN on Wednesday. "It was a great scene, but it's also a recipe for disaster when you have emotional players walking off the field and fans running around by them and celebrating."
