For the past six weeks, Chicago Bears fans have been consumed by discussions surrounding the top pick in the upcoming draft. Whether it's debating the merits of selecting Caleb Williams, targeting Marvin Harrison, or exploring trade-down scenarios for a haul of picks, little else has captured their attention since the conclusion of the 2023 season with a loss to the Green Bay Packers.

The local and national media have mirrored this fixation, momentarily pausing only to acknowledge the recent football game in Las Vegas before returning to the incessant chatter about the coveted number one pick. However, amidst this fervor, it's important not to overlook the fact that the Chicago Bears also hold the ninth overall selection. So, what's the plan for pick number nine?

While a comprehensive breakdown of all potential prospects at this spot might be exhaustive, it's evident that the Bears' draft board will shrink considerably by the time their turn comes. Nonetheless, there are three main avenues they could pursue.

Wide Receiver emerges as the most probable path. With three standout receiver prospects available in 2024, including the highly-touted Marvin Harrison, it's unlikely that he'll slip past the top 5 picks. A significant trade-up to secure him seems improbable given the steep cost, leaving LSU's Malik Nabers and Washington's Rome Odunze as viable options.

In my view, these two prospects should rank highest on Ryan Poles' list. While I personally favor Nabers over Odunze, the likelihood of having the luxury to choose between them is slim. Nonetheless, both carry low bust potential and could significantly bolster the Bears' receiving corps alongside DJ Moore.

Considering the anticipated departure of Darnell Mooney and the uncertainty surrounding Tyler Scott's readiness for the WR3 role in 2024, the Bears will likely aim to secure two viable receivers. This could involve signing a mid-tier free agent and targeting one of these prospects with the ninth pick.
