In the wake of a tumultuous week for the Chicago Bears, their game against the Chiefs seemed almost secondary.

Yet, during what was billed as America's Game of the Week, the Bears seemed absent, suffering a staggering 41-10 loss, marking their third consecutive defeat this season. To add salt to the wound, many viewers missed the game's conclusion when Fox transitioned to the Cowboys-Cardinals matchup.

A savvy decision by Fox, it seems.

Before this overwhelming defeat at Arrowhead, the Chiefs' offense seemed to be in a rut, only managing to score 20 and 17 points in their last two encounters.

However, facing the 2023 Bears seemed to be the antidote. It's becoming a comedic trend: teams facing the Bears tend to rediscover their form. And this is only three weeks into the season. The depth of the Bears' problems remains to be seen.

Patrick Mahomes had an impressive display, completing 24-of-33 passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns before retiring early in the third quarter. The only hiccup came when wide receiver Rashee Rice missed a pass on the Chiefs' first drive, forcing a punt. Given the Bears' defensive performance, that drive would likely have resulted in points.

The Chiefs effortlessly navigated past a Bears defense that had previously expressed enthusiasm about facing the reigning Super Bowl champions. The Chiefs accumulated 456 total yards and secured 10-of-14 on third down attempts. Alarmingly, the Bears seem to be deteriorating with each game, especially on third down.

Perhaps the Bears' defense was more focused on the celebrity spectators, like Taylor Swift, hoping to impress with plays against the likes of Travis Kelce, who notched seven catches for 69 yards and a touchdown.

On the offensive front, the Bears were in shambles, merely extending their recent poor form. Their 10-point score came after capitalizing on a couple of Gabbert interceptions, hardly a commendable feat. Justin Fields' touchdown connection with DJ Moore was the sole offensive highlight.

Earlier in the week, Fields had expressed a more carefree approach to his game. However, with an 11 of 22 for 99 yards scoreline, featuring a touchdown and interception, it seemed the entire offense took that laissez-faire attitude to heart.

The Bears seem to be spiraling, and the future looks uncertain.

Next week, the Bears will welcome the Denver Broncos, fresh off a crushing 70-20 loss to the Dolphins. But considering the Bears' recent form, the Broncos might just find their redemption at Soldier Field.
