"The Chicago Bears have decided to move on from one of their 2016 free agent signings and accumulate some more cap space for the upcoming free agent market. According to reports, the Bears have declined the contract option for offensive guard Josh Sitton. The contract was an $8million hit for the next season, however now Sitton will join Jerrell Freeman on the free agency market. The 31 year old started 25 of the 26 games he played in Chicago but unfortunately struggled with injuries through the 2017 season. With Cody Whitehair emerging and some talent available at the draft, Sitton became expandable. Ideally, you'd like to have Whitehair continue working on his game at the center position but Hroniss Grasu might get the start this season at center, moving Whitehair to left guard and Kyle Long at right guard. Despite the injury problems, the former All-Pro will be an attractive option for various teams looking to add some talent to their offensive line.
