Bears Drama: What this Montez Sweat $100 Million Extension Means for Jaylon Johnson
Before the NFL trade deadline passed, Bears CB Jaylon Johnson requested to be traded, as he and the Bears failed to reach an extension agreement.
After the deadline passed, all that happened was that the Bears gave up a 2nd round pick in exchange for Commanders DE Montez Sweat, and Johnson remained on the Bears.
After this trade, and Sweat extension talks became known, Johnson revealed how he would feel if Sweat got an extension before him:
As heard in the flip from a few days ago, Johnson would not be happy if Sweat got extended before him so now, he must be angry.
Today, it was announced that the Bears and Sweat agreed to a 4-year deal worth up to over $100 million:
This allows the Bears to place their franchise tag on Johnson, if they choose to, but we are all aware that he is likely to be mad about this deal.
Johnson has been vocal about wanting to extend with the Bears, but if they cannot agree on a deal, then he wants out of Chicago.
