Welcome to the first edition of Fun Facts Friday. These are just five things that all Bears fans should know, but not all do.

1. As previously stated in another article the Bears hold the trophy for the most lopsided win

A 73-0 victory over the Washington Redskins in the 1940 NFL Championship game.

2. The last player to play without a helmet was a Bear

End Dick Plasman played without a helmet in the previously mentioned 1940 NFL Championship blowout game against the Redskins.

3. The Bears have 14 retired numbers

4. Former Bears defensive end, Julius Peppers, is the only athlete to have ever played in both the NCAA Final Four AND the Super Bowl

He played for the North Carolina Tar Heels in the 2001 NCAA March Madness Tourney and then just three years later he played for the Panthers in Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004.

5. The oldest player to play in NFL history was drafted by the Bears

George Blanda, who retired at the age of 48 in 1976, was originally drafted by the Chicago Bears in 1949. He played quarterback and kicker.
