After the ugly season opener, Bears insider Josh Schrock revealed his observations from the game:
In the article, Schrock mainly wrote about 3 topics, which were 1) Missed opportunities, 2) Sluggish offense, and 3) Outcoached.
When looking at the missed opportunities, it was apparent all game, mainly in the first half. The Bears were able to start some solid drives, but when the time came to score a TD, it seemed impossible. The Bears were able to put themselves in good positions, but were not able to capitalise on them.
Next, when talking about the sluggish offense, this was the most shocking part to me. The Bears offense looked unstoppable during training camp and the preseason. New additions like DJ Moore, Tyler Scott, and D'Onta Foreman were supposed to help the offense, but it added nothing to this game. Fields made some exciting rushing plays, but other then that, the offense looked tired.
And lastly, when seeing the way these Bears played, it was obvious that the Bears were out coached by the Packers. As stated by Schrock, Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy was sticking with one play that was not working:
Overall, this was a bad game. The Packers are nothing special, but against the Bears, they looked like a Super Bowl team.
The Bears have A LOT to work on this week, and hopefully can show some improvement for their week 2 matchup against the Buccaneers.
