Bears' Roster Breakdown by Draft
There have been quite a few roster additions since the start of the offseason. With it being too early to set the practice squad roster, the Bears are sitting at a whopping 96 players. Of those guys, 56 have two years or less in the league. It was also eye-opening at how young the team is and that the players who have been a Bear the longest are Cody Whitehair and Deandre Carson-Houston.
We need to continue to keep guys for years to come we will find success. The trouble with changing coaches and general managers is that it takes a couple of years for everyone to develop and learn new systems. Each new coach pushes the reset button on their progress. With Poles and Eberflus starting with this young of a roster they have a jump start on the process. If picks from day one of the draft are what makes a team successful, we are in for a dismal year. The Bears only have THREE former first-round picks and of them, we only drafted two of them in Justin Fields, Roquan Smith. Robert Quinn was first a St. Louis Ram. In the Bears' defense, these are three of our top players. We also had a GM who liked to trade away multiple for a single high pick and rarely back for more. It will be nice to see what Poles will do with his first-round one pick. FIRST-ROUND

After all is said and done and Mr. Irrelevant is called there are a lot of phone calls being made to the guys who were borderline picks. The Bears have made A LOT of those phone calls, this year especially. Poles brought in 21 undrafted free agents from this year's draft so far, including the most recent waiver pickup of receiver Chris Finke.
