Larry Morris was a four-year starter as center and linebacker for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, after which he was drafted seventh overall in the 1955 NFL Draft by the Bears. He was part of the 1960s All-Decade Team and played 12 seasons with the Bears, Rams, and Falcons. He was later inducted into the college football Hall of Fame.
Morris was indicted and received probation during the Savings and loan crisis. As a licensed Atlanta real estate agent, two top corporate executives of First Mutual Savings in Pensacola, Florida, took illegal kickbacks causing his condos and rehabs loans to go bad
Morris tried to bring attention to head injuries in football as he said he had no recollection of his playing days.
He died in 2012 and spent his last few years in a nursing home in Atlanta. His brain was donated to Boston University for the study of brain injuries associated with former professional football players.
