However, HC Matt Eberflus also revealed that the Bears will open the practice window for wide receiver Byron Pringle to return. The wide receiver has been sidelined for a few weeks after suffering a calf injury in the Week 3 win over Houston. With the window open, the Bears now have 21 days to activate Pringle to the active roster which likely won't be this week.
"And then Byron Pringle, he's eligible, he's going to be eligible. We're gonna open up his window, his 21-day window today," Eberflus said. "So we're gonna see where he goes, in terms of his conditioning level. He's been working with the strength staff and we're gonna open his window up today for that. And again, if he does really well, we'll see what happens later in the week."
Pringle signed with the Bears this year after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Chiefs. After missing his entire rookie season in 2018 due to an injury he sustained in the preseason finale, Pringle appeared in 46 games with eight starts the past three seasons, catching 67 passes for 898 yards and seven touchdowns. He also averaged 26.6 yards with one TD on 37 kickoff returns.
I believe he could be a major contributor to this very weak WR core for the Chicago Bears. I also expect him to bring a much-needed veteran presence on the offensive side of the ball.
