As we all know, the Bears' offensive line is a pretty hefty question mark.

Well, things got even weirder today at practice as we had a report that rookie Braxton Jones was playing left tackle with the first team and Larry Borom at playing right tackle. Teven Jenkins was at RT with the 2nd team.

The Bears are pretty thin on the offensive line and Jenkins looked like an obvious starter in 2022.

According to Adam Jahns Bears coach Matt Eberflus basically described Jones' work with the 1s and Borom's move to the right side as an experimentation for the OL before training camp. He indicated it happened before today, too. They're also doing the same with other positions.

«We're just trying to find the best combinations of people, especially when you're looking at the offensive line. Who are the best five guys out there so we can succeed? And it creates competition when you do that, you know when you're moving guys around. Who can function at different spots, and who can really execute?»

This was Eberflus' response when being asked about the situation. Maybe we are focusing too much on Jenkins' struggles and not enough on what Braxton Jones could be. He successfully played that position at Southern Utah and carried it into the Senior Bowl. The Bears were so interested in him that they sent representatives to see him work out one more time, mere days before the draft.
