During Sunday's Week 13 game between the Bengals and Chiefs, play was briefly stopped when Cincinnati's Jessie Bates went down with an «injury.» It was an odd time to get hurt, considering Bates was part of the defensive huddle just seconds earlier.

Indeed, when the Chiefs set up just outside Cincy's goal line and the Bengals hustled to make a couple of substitutions, Jessie Bates felt his team needed a stoppage in play. So he did the first thing that came to mind and flopped to the ground with a supposed leg injury.

Upon reviewing the replay, it sure seems like Bates suffered the setback after realizing his defense's substitutions were late getting on the field. That could have resulted in a flag, a lost timeout or even the Chiefs just catching them off guard.

Adding fuel to the speculation fire, Bates missed just one snap.

The Chiefs wound up scoring anyway, but rest assured theinteresting injury to Bates went viral with the quickness.
