BLOCKBUSTER: New Mock Draft has Bears Selecting LSU Star with 2nd Overall Pick and Trading Away Justin Fields
In a new mock draft from CBS' Chris Trapasso, he shows how the Bears can make a blockbuster trade, but move down in the draft;
As shown in his mock draft, Trapasso has the Bears trading Justin Fields to the Falcons for a 2024 and 2025 3rd round draft pick.
Also, in the mock, the Bears trade their 1st overall pick to the Commanders in exchange for the 2nd overall pick, a 2nd-round pick, a 2025 1st-round pick, and a 2026 3rd-round pick.
With this blockbuster draft day trade, the mock shows the Bears selecting LSU QB Jayden Daniels with the 2nd overall pick.
Though most mock drafts have been showcasing North Carolina's Drake Maye going in the top 3, this mock has Daniels as the 2nd QB taken, as USC QB Caleb Williams will likely be drafted 1st.
Daniels finished the 2023 season with 3,812 passing yards, 40 touchdown passes, and only 4 interceptions.
He was named as the AP College Football Player of the Year, the SN Player of the Year, the SEC Offensive Player of the Year, a First-team All-SEC, and a Consensus All-American. He was also awarded with the Manning Award, Davey O'Brien Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, Walter Camp Award, and the Heisman Trophy.
Though most analysts predict that the Bears will want to keep the 1st pick and draft Williams, this mock shows how maybe the Bears will pass on him, but still go with a QB who they think will be better, and draft Daniels instead.
