"The Chicago Bears and general manager dipped into the free agent pool again on Wednesday. This time the team has decided to add a veteran presence to it's offense. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport the Bears have signed a free agent running back. Damien Williams reunites with former coaches Matt Nagy and Bill Lazor as he signs a 1 year deal with the Bears. Williams was cut this offseason by the Kansas City Chiefs after opting out of last season for COVID-19 reasons. He's familiar with Nagy from KC and familiar with Lazor from Miami. This could actually be a very interesting fit as he'll join David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen in the RB room.
Damien Williams opted out last year because of COVID-19 concerns regarding his mom's stage 4 cancer. Now, he's back in Chicago with some friendly faces. https://t.co/6idYZTNpkW — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 24, 2021
