ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington reported another breaking news in the NFL. 49ers WR Deebo Samuel has officially asked to be traded away from the team.

Here is what Darlington tweeted a few minutes ago:

I just spoke to wide receiver Deebo Samuel and he told me that he has asked the 49ers to trade him.

He did not want to discuss specific reasons behind his request, but he has indeed let the 49ers know his desire to leave the organization. More to come.

This is a huge ongoing development.

Here is what Ian Rapoport said on the subject:

The 49ers have been looking to make offers for a long-term deal with WR Deebo Samuel, but he's been unwilling to engage. This is why. Unclear where this goes from here. But Samuel wanting out is the latest in big-name WR drama.

Rapoport also added that money is not at the root of the issues for Deebo Samuel, otherwise, that could be fixed with a big offer. But there are also issues with how he's used.

I find that hard to believe since I could hardly imagine an offense where Deebo is better used. He was so great in the playoffs run last season for San Francisco. He was by far their most important player.

As for us Bears fans, of course, he would be amazing in our offense and I actually think he would fit perfectly with the type of west-coast offense Luke Getsy wants to establish. However, Deebo is so great that he could be dominant anywhere and I don't see a realistic scenario where GM Ryan Poles makes a blockbuster deal for him. We are definitely allowed to dream a little, but let's not get our hopes too high for the moment.
