John Ross was selected one spot ahead of Patrick Mahomes in the 2017 NFL Draft. Six years later, the former first-round picks are now teammates after Ross signed a reserve/future deal with the Chiefs.

The former Washington Huskies wideout notably ran the fastest 40-yard dash time in NFL Scouting Combine history (4.22s).

Ross, 27, spent only four seasons in Cincinnati, appearing in just 27 games with 20 starts. Ross recorded 51 receptions for 733 yards and 10 touchdowns during that span.

Ross didn't play in a regular-season game in 2022-23, and the nature of his new contract with the Chiefs makes him a potential piece for the next several months. Durability and productivity have both remained question marks throughout his NFL career. Still, Chiefs' GM Brett Veach is known for taking chances on former first-round picks and attempting to get something out of them.
