Captured on camera, Adams was seen pushing a credentialed media personnel, causing him to fall over, as he exited the field after a loss to the Chiefs in October. The alleged victim, Park Zebley, working as a freelance photographer for ESPN at the time, asserts he experienced whiplash, persistent headaches, and a mild concussion following the incident. As a result, Adams was charged with misdemeanor assault.
According to the Kansas City Star, Zebley is now legally pursuing not only Adams but also both teams and the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority.
In a statement to the publication, Zebley expressed, «A municipal misdemeanor battery charge is not sufficient. I'm looking for justice. You can't shove someone down and walk off like it didn't happen. Not in real life.»
The veteran player, who has made six Pro Bowl appearances, is being sued for battery, while the Raiders face lawsuits for vicarious liability and ratification, along with negligent supervision.
Zebley also highlighted a frightening aftermath of the incident receiving death threats from Raiders fans after his identity was publicly disclosed.
The lawsuit states, «In the days that followed, media and various fans of the Las Vegas Raiders and Adams discovered (Zebley's) identity, circulated his contact information, and made death threats against him, as well as other generally vile comments. (Zebley) felt concerned for his own safety and sought counseling and stayed away from his apartment.»
While the NFL has yet to impose any disciplinary action on Adams, he could potentially face suspension following the conclusion of the legal proceedings.
